Abebooks Coupons, Discount Codes & Promotions

First: I have no affiliation with Abebooks. I am a graduate student studying architecture and a self-diagnosed biblioholic. I just registered for CouponMountain so that another point of view could be seen. I have placed thirteen orders (a fourteenth is impending) with Abebooks totalling nearly one-thousand dollars over the course of more than a year. I have NEVER had a serious problem with a bookseller. On one occasion I placed an order for an expensive book and did not hear anything for a lengthy period, at which point I became worried, but it turned out the seller was on vacation. Other than this ONE ISOLATED INCIDENT everything has arrived extremely quickly, in great condition, and with excellent communication along the way. Abebooks is an enormous compendium of booksellers from all over the world. A resource like this is bound to have some foibles. Yet from my several transactions I have come to realize that Abebooks, for the most part, is comprised of a network of dedicated booksellers who really love what they do. I am not sure what types of books people were ordering that all arrived in such poor shape. I can only imagine that they were of the more multiplicitous variety (i.e. mainstream) for something like this to happen, but on the large part if you are using Abebooks like I do, for old, rare, or just great-priced books not available elsewhere, you should be most pleased with your purchases. I can appreciate the fact that the customer service on Abe's side could be better, although I have never had the need to call upon it, but I must say, have you ever tried to contact Amazon regarding marketplace purchases? They reply quickly. Telling you to call the seller. Nothing is perfect, but I can also say that I have received more than one book far from the description advertised on Amazon, something that, again, has yet to happen on Abebooks. Long live Abebooks! Can you imagine if you had to manually locate the gems it holds?
