I just checked the weather forecast for the next week at it seems that we will indeed continue to have temperatures in the 90's for the foreseeable future. I know when faced with that type of weather, it can be difficult to imagine one yourself in clothing much less Fall layers! Especially when one looks at the new Fall collections (currently being released by the droves) and notice that the trends all seem to be about boots and heavy layering.
Have you noticed the bold proliferation of capes and all the various derivatives thereof in the upcoming Fall and Winter lines? It's been quite some time since the cape has been a major fashion staple. In Autumn / Winter 2010 the cape, in it's various forms, will make it to major trend status. All of the big names of the fashion design world have seemed to revive the staple of yesteryear for the upcoming season.
Capes and cloaks have existed, in one variety or another, through much of our known human history. From early Medieval mantles, to 16th century decorative shawls; from military officers capes and 1940s fur stoles, to the fringed ponchos of the 1960s. However since the aforemontioned hippie revival there seems to have been a distinct dropoff. That is until now. The cape is back on the agenda and has the setup to hit the streets as one of the major 2010 fashion trends. There are more varieties of capes than we could possibly go into here, but I have noticed that many of the designers seem really into shawls and wraps this year. These are usually loosely-worn or wrapped around the shoulders. They can be glamorous, made from luxurious fabrics like silk, brocade, or fur. There are also more casual options such as this:
